Thank you all for the great responses.  It was very illuminating.  You have definitely improved my understanding of the situation.  Really appreciate your thoughts on the matter.

And of course we are a part of our ecological systems, whether we understand that or not.  We don't have to seek it, just to acknowledge it and to do something about it.

Where did you find that?  I keep missing it.
