Well, people are the governments.
I won't lie, as I sense the anti-israeli sentiment that is on the rise in Turkey.
It has been artificially created, true, since we harbored no traditional dislike towards jews throughout the time, nor such exceptional friendship, but were generally neutral, as they were mostly loyal subjects of the Empire, more so than some others. But well, they are gone now, so why worry?
They have their own country, which is fine by me, and they're at odds with some arabs, who had a history of stabbing us in the back with forks, and we still support the arabs?
I don't think that the ummah mentality applies here, if it did, it'd certainly apply back then when the arabs were flaunting our laws, harboring our enemies.
It seems like they had gone unpunished, for now at least...
The jews? They were happy to sit back in their homes and generally stay out of the conflict zone back in those days.
Since remaining neutral was in and of itself, a rather honourable deed where the rest turned traitor, I keep that in mind, and generally harbor no ill will.
But I can't say I trust them more than the arabs themselves, with or without governments.
It's just the way it has to be, you see. Not on a "personal" level, like you and me sitting and having a cup of tee. But I see the international Jewry as a nation of it's own right, just as I see the Turks of the world as a single nation.
So I remain skeptical of any of their moves towards us as a nation.
But as I said, on a personal level, I am skeptical towards everyone. Who can you really trust beside yourself and the spirit of your kin?
