Quote:Trump Loyalists Pam Bondi, Kash Patel Face Lawsuit Over FBI Purge
Three senior FBI officials fired last month say they were targeted in a "campaign of retribution" carried out by a director who admitted the dismissals were "likely illegal" but gave in to political pressure from the Trump administration to protect his own job, according to a federal lawsuit filed Wednesday.
It names Director Kash Patel, Attorney General Pam Bondi, the FBI, the Justice Department and the Executive Office of the President as defendants.
The case marks a rare legal pushback from the FBI's upper ranks against a wave of departures under Trump's Republican administration that has stripped the bureau of decades of institutional knowledge. The ousted agents have accused the agency of allowing personnel decisions to be driven by White House politics rather than public safety.
"Patel not only acted unlawfully but deliberately chose to prioritize politicizing the FBI over protecting the American people," the lawsuit says. It adds that "his decision to do so degraded the country's national security by firing three of the FBI's most experienced operational leaders, each of them experts in preventing terrorism and reducing violent crime."

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"
