Ha, yeah, Northern Exposure kind of falls apart. What irritated me is that characters stay the same, like Maggie and Fleischman constantly flirt but never get together (I mean even Mulder and Scully had sex eventually), Ed is forever dreaming about making his big movie but never does; and then stories get banal, like the whole episode about how Holing can't take a shit; and then the last season when it seems like they gave up and even Fleischman leaves but the show goes on.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"
