It's good that I did, though I probably would have figured things out soon. I had missed a gate in a backyard fence that was the way to the next part of the game. I've played about an hour, so I've got an hour left before I'm no longer eligible for a refund, so I want to play as much as I can in that short time in order to decide whether to keep the game or not.
Never played the Silent Hill games, but I love the films, especially the first one... the second one was a bit more forgettable IMO but still pretty good. I also watched someone play one of the Silent Hill games on YouTube... as well as other horror games like Alien: Isolation and The Forest... great to watch but definitely not my cup of tea to play. The Forest in particular is almost magical to me in memories, and if they made a film of it I'd definitely watch it. That's the only horror/survival game I've played, with a friend, albeit in the 'peaceful' no-monster mode (well there is one, the final boss, but other than that just animals), where it's just about survival, building, hunting, swimming, and exploring, mainly caves. I'd really recommend that if you like horror games. There's a sequel as well but it's nowhere near as good a story IMO (or in my memory
)... definitely prefer the first one.
