A. Sentience is not a universal constant or at least cannot be shown to be. You have no idea what exists as far as sentience beyond this world and therefore are dead in the water from the word go.
B. Without sentient beings, there would be no sentience, but somehow life, matter, energy would all likely persist. Life is not necessary to this, though.
C. Even if sentience were a universal constant, how would that be automatically defined as god's purpose?
