Ofcourse you can judge a religion by its people, te same way you can judge a car by its driver.
If the driver happens to be poor, then the car is probably cheap. If the driver is driver is rich, then the car is most likely a luxury item. If the driver is a motor-fanatic, then the car is likely to be a classic, usually a gas-guzzler. If the driver is environmentally conscious, then the car is most likely eco-friendly. If the driver is a soccer-mom, the car is an SUV. See, a lot of judgments made about the car based on the driver.
Similarly, if people practicing a particular religion justify their violent actions on basis of religion, then the religion is most likely hateful and violent as well.

Ofcourse we consider the peaceful people as well. We take into account how many mutually contradictory and irrational worldviews a religion can support. If a religion is used to justify both love and hate, both violence and peace, then that religion is a mass of contradictions and lies that no rational person would choose to follow.

Child abuse in primary schools isnt systematically covered up and facilitated by the people in charge.

If the driver is a woman then its probably poorly maintained(ducks for cover)

Have you considered that there were many aztecs that didnt participate in the ritual sacrifices at the altar, does that mean that their religion was a religion of peace?
And it also says that killing in the name of god is good. That means Islam is a mass of contradictions that cannot stay true even to itself.
