While I'm not familiar with anti-vac history...organic ag is absolutely steeped in religion, the supernatural, and magic. That's where it came from...not even close to kidding. The initial gripe about fertilizers were that they lacked "neccessary spiritual energy" and were thusly not a good source of nourishment (your spirit has to eat after all).
