Iran attacking the US?
I'm not really sure that such a thing is possible. As a matter of fact, I think that Iran is the biggest bluff ever. Asides from that, I can see why America seeks to maybe attack Iran.
The US already has many allies from which it can secure it's oil: however, there are some from which it cannot really depend for oil, like, say, Iran.
Previously, Iraq...Iran was already the target of the CIA for it's oil in the past, as you know, the reinstating of the Shah, and with Iraq being supported in the war against Iran before...
But I think that a major war might erupt from a new Iraq-Iran war: this time, it will be a war, shia vs. sunni. As far as I'm concerned, the sunni insurgency in Iraq was both active against US/NATO targets, as much as it was against Iran/Shia targets. And secterian/ethnic tensions are once again on the rise in Iraq, not to mention in Syria(Another Shia-Sunni war is being silently waged in the country. Many of the secularist Sunni are also supporting the Shia Esad.).
In a case where Iran might step in favor of the Shia in Iraq, US will most certainly step in for the sunni side, even though they had supported the Shia while entering Iraq.
I know, to some of you, it might sound like bullshit, but I've seen a few maps that were resurfacing in the past, about a new middle east, which I found quite disturbing.
