I see repeatedly here, that killing is more expensive than life-imprisonment... but i do not see how.
How hard is it to kill a man...? Does it take something so complicated and expensive as a special blend of toxic chemicals...? Or can it be done as easily as jabbing a sharp object into flesh...? Could it not even be done by a single pull of a trigger...?
Why should a person linked to a long-planned brutal murder... recieve eternal peace from our law? Why should we treat a terrorist any differantly in prison... than we do on the battlefield? Where is the justice in granting peace to those who have given naught but agony to others?
Where is the fairness in gently killing those who have barbarically murdered? To do so would be to insult the memory of the victim, their family, their friends, and their country. I disagree with the death penalty, as i disagree with killing another living being for anything but food (and even then it is to my distaste)... but i do not, and never will agree with unfair treatment.
But then again... this does come from one who is once a proud philosopher, and twice an ashamed criminal.

Please give me a home where cloud buffalo roam
Where the dear and the strangers can play
Where sometimes is heard a discouraging word
But the skies are not stormy all day
