The British tried to surrender to the French before they surrendered to the yanks, the French politely pointing them towards Washington as a political gesture.
Ironically France bankrupted themselves funding Americas treacherous rebellion.
All for nothing.
As soon as the war was over the yanks traded with the brits, the financial ruin this caused France was one of the main reasons for the French the revolution.
