Why would Al-qaeda even bother claiming responsibility for the attacks if the US government did it? Saying no, your own country did it, would be far more devastating to the US than claiming responsibility was.

Al-qaeda is an extension of the C.I.A. Osama Bin Laden had strong financial ties to the C.I.A. They are the scapegoats, the made-up enemy. In reality, our infantry in Afghanistan are the real terrorists whether they are aware of it or not.
