Grammar nazi!
There is another book called The View From Nebo by Amy Dockser Marcus. Again, Marcus is not an archaeologist but a reporter so she goes out into the field to speak to archaeologists doing the field work. There is a fascinating section about fairly recent discoveries in Iraq which deal with the so-called "Exile." Once again it would seem that reality is different from bible bullshit but there is no surprise there.
These finds post-date Finkelstein's work although he too has moved on to the Persian period. In effect what has happened is that with general agreement that the so-called Davidic empire was nothing more than a wet dream cooked up by priests looking to give themselves a glorious history, one must search later into the first millenium to find the origins of Judaism.
In any case, I highly recommend that one, also.
