The rest of the paragraph:
Quote:However, they do believe in spirits that can sometimes take on the shape of things in the environment. These spirits can be jaguars, trees, or other visible, tangible things including people.[12] Everett reported one incident where the Pirahã said that “Xigagaí, one of the beings that lives above the clouds, was standing on a beach yelling at us, telling us that he would kill us if we go into the jungle.” Everett and his daughter could see nothing and yet the Pirahã insisted that Xigagaí was still on the beach.[13]
Yes, there is batshit found.
They're a people who appear to believe devoutly in their own cultural superiority. Evidence from those who'd try to teach them corroborates that.
Fuck them.
Plenty of batshit and woo to boot. That's not surprising in a tribe of stone age hunter gatherers without the knowledge to explain natural occurrences in the the world around them. The point however being that they have no supreme deity. They don't believe in a creator. As such they serve as a good counter point to those who claim "even if no one ever told us about god, we would believe in him as we went through life."
Here is a culture that developed in isolation from the rest of the world. No one ever told them about god, and they never developed the concept. So much for the baseless assertion that we would believe in god anyway.
Save a life. Adopt a greyhound.
