Jobs should go to those most qualified to do them. People should be treated as equals; all affirmative action does is be racist towards white people. If people were treated as equals, we wouldn't look at the colour of a person's skin when doing an interview; we'd look at their qualifications.

This might work in a perfect world, but this world is far from perfect. People are not treated equal. Racism still exists and probably will exist for a long time to come. Affirmative action was put in place to help those that are being discriminated against. Right or wrong it's the way it is.

I'm working hard to get a decent degree, and it is wholly unfair that I could be turned down a job simply because I'm white.

The good news is that probably will never happen. The majority of the population in the US is still white. More good news, your an atheist so you are in a minority.

On the terrorism point; all we do by torturing them and killing them is sink to their level.

Exactly. If a loved one of mine was killed by a terrorist, killing that terrorist or all that I see will not bring them back.
