I am on no higher ground than anyone. Like most humans, I'm a selfish immoral ignorant biased douchebag.
That's not sarcasm, by the way.

Do you mean stereotypes?
I have yet to come across a stereotype of any group which has been true for every member of that group I have met. [with the single exception of young earth creationists. SO FAR,every one I've run across has been a complete loon.I don't know any Scientologists]
Stereotypes? I guess. They don't necessarily have to be popular preconceived notions (but then, I guess stereotypes don't have to be either).

Well, the ads are useful for dispelling preconceived notions about what Mormons are like. I also find the ads annoying, because I don't have preconceived notions of what Mormons are like other than the fact that they believe Mormonism. The atheists here, however, have lots of preconceived notions about theists in general (which includes Mormons)--their intelligence, their rationality, their contributions to society, and so forth. The amount of bigotry here is staggering; before I started contributing here, I thought that most atheists were just normal people, not the super-assholes you guys have here.
I'm only an asshole to religious people because of their condescending attitude towards the non-religious: "I'll pray for you then." "You're just lost." "I hate you've chosen that path."
"You're just lost" <=> "You're just deluded"
"I hate you've chosen that path" <=> "I wish you didn't hate science and reason."
Condescension happens in both directions. Just look at Rhythm.

I'm not saying that you're mean. I'm saying that you're hypocritical bigots. You could be the nicest person in the world and still be a hypocritical bigot. You could be the meanest asshole in the world and be neither a hypocrite nor a bigot.
But lots of members here are hypocritical bigots.
