Apparently he got the nickname "Darth Farmer" by the rest of the cast. He's actually a really nice and genuine bloke; we met and spoke to him when he participated in a regular sci-fi/collector's convention at the Birmingham NEC several years ago. You could spot at a glance why he got the part - the man is immense! He was seated near to Peter "Chewbacca" Mayhew and between them they practically dominated the arena. Presumably they had to duck to get through the front doors.
Another bit of trivia: in the classic twist scene of The Empire Strikes back ("No, I am your father!"), the only member of the cast who knew what that reveal line was going to be was James Earl Jones, and then only when it came time for his dubbing session. After the initial exchange, still in the final cut of the scene ("Obi-Wan never told you what happened to your father." "He told me enough! - He told me you killed him!"), Mark Hamill was directed to severely overplay his reaction to Prowse's original line, which was "No - Obi-Wan killed your father!" Now keep that in mind and watch Alec Guinness's face in the scene in the original Star Wars when Luke asks how his father died.

At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'
