It seems that they've gone too far. Protest the Orthodox, sure, but a flash mob in a cathedral that directly accosts Putin and the Virgin Mary is too far.
However, I really don't know as much as I'd like about Russia's legal system. "Checks and Balances" seem to have no place, seeing as Mr. Putin himself wrote the verdict.
I do support the, ahem, "Pussy Riots," in their mission for expressional freedom, but they have gone a bit far past subtle. (Raised some "pro-Pussy Riot" eyebrows, though. Kudos for that.)
