RE: What is it about America? Does America's education system just suck?

People aren't called upon to join the MILITARY in the US. Most of the time they join right out of highschool because:
1. They dont want to go to college
2. They were very gullible and the recruiter got an easy sign up
3. They started making babies too damn soon
4. They think it'll be 'fun','cool','badass'..... you name it.
5. (My personal reason I joined the Marine Corps for one enlistment) They wanted to learn a skill they'd never get in the civilian world (Work on fighter jets) still wasn't worth it, but eh.
The point is. Very few do more than the reserves or national guard (which are both part time options, some national guardsmen are full time) for college. Those that joined active claiming to do it for schooling didn't do their research or let their ego overrule their logic in which path would provide the most benefit. I will admit in some cases they feel that full time active and not going to school till after is their best option. Should also mention once you're tricked into signing (which some are) you ARE legally obligated to complete the enlistment you signed up for, minus the obvious reasons you wouldn't be able to(medical and such).
As for the American dream you talked about: My reason for earning a lot of $$ as you put it is this. I do not own a home yet, I have a daughter and a soon to be wife. I am doing this job out in the middle of the desert in order to buy them a home outright without a mortgage floating over our heads. Screw the SUV I'll stick to my Mustang and she seems pretty happy with her Toyota Camry. I can only speak for our American dream when I say we just want to live with less stress and give our child (and future additions) the best life possible. Give them the best opportunity to be better than we are. I'd like to be able to pay for my children's college so they don't have to do the jobs and things I've done unless they want to. If I cannot afford to for whatever reason then I will show them evry option I know, make them research and find more if there are any and expect them to be able to handle themselves well throughout whatever struggle they face.
What country are you from btw?

I'm no one special and I treat everyone the best I possibly can, but to you believer, despite my acts, I am condemned to hell.
