If You whip children with Sticks you are a child abuser and deserve to be in jail.

And the Church isn't an authority? God isn't an authority?? They are the ultimate authorities to Christians, who are trained from early childhood, to simply not question.
In some more civilized parts of the world, spanking one's child will result in a visit from child and family services. In this view, spanking, especially very young children, is a sign of stress in the parent and an early warning of an inability to cope with the challenges of raising small children. Helping parents learn more productive forms of discipline is better for the parent-child relationship, and ultimately better for society.
