Our economy based on small buisnesses as the backbone of a big number of big buisnesses, the diverse market in wich almoust everyone can open his own buisness, keept us safe through the last financial crisises.
Can one actualy still open a buisness in the US? I highly dought that when big coorparations can simply outcheap or outbuy you.
And of course when one has monopoly power, nothing is as easy as treating your employees like shit. ("where else are you going to work!")
Rest assured the counter culture is growing in america and it is centered on the issues of big business. There will always be two cultures in america, not sure if it's the same in all countries but I imagine so. What you see on t.v. or hear about in the news is only the half you are allowed to see. The counter culture is always supressed.
