Sadly, that's true. The counter culture tried to speak up for themselves and make enough noise to actually get things done with Occupy Wall Street. The people in power quickly squashed them for it. Brings up the frustrating question: How do you change the system? If you try to change it from the outside, you're silenced, ignored or worse. If you try to change it from the inside, you wind up seduced and becoming part of the problem.
