I'm pleasantly surprised by the election results.
Obama not only won the elecion, he won every swing state except North Carolina and maybe Florida (final tally hasn't been counted there yet). Not only that, but marriage equality was on the ballot infour states (3 voting to legalize same sex marriage, 1 voting to specifically ban it) and it went the way I want in all four cases. There were even states legalizing marijuana by votes which will be a very interesting court showdown over the next few years. Richard Mourdock and Todd Akin lost their seats, Elizabeth Warren won he election (and looks poised to become a big name in the democratic party) and Tammy Baldwin has become the first openly gay senator. The nation seems to be starting to swing back towards the left. As for the Republican party, they're going to have to lick their wounds and decide how to respond to this. They can decide to calm down and actually work with the president or they can keep fighting him tooth and nail. If they do the former, I can see some much better accomplishments over the next few years. If they keep fighting him, 2014 is just around the corner and I can see them taking another shellacking for it.
