With all the measures that were passed legalizing marijuana, same sex marriage, the Dream Act, the anti-abortion guys getting trounced in their elections, etc. I think the Republicans have to give up the fight for social conservatism. It's political suicide if they don't. Yes, there are people who support a socially conservative agenda, but the majority of Americans don't, as was just proven in this election cycle. To keep stumping on social conservatism is just ridiculous.
I am interested to see all the demographics of this election, which could take some time to come in. They were predicting that Obama would win without a majority of white voters. The demographics have finally reached a tipping point in America to where that is even possible. If the Republicans want to remain a viable political party, they're going to have to play to the demographics needed to get them elected, namely racial minorities, LGTB's, and women. These groups simply aren't interested in social conservatism as it has been presented by the Republican party. It's time for the Party itself to change. It'll be interesting to see if they do.
