We're discussing your act of implying that criticism of a politician is a criticism towards the institution of democracy.

"It will happen anyways" is immaterial to objecting both logically and emotionally to acts done by others.

I cannot change what the Ugandans are doing in their persecution of homosexuals, but I can object to it nonetheless.

Then you must realize even though it is still a horrible persecution, they have still come a long way from burning or castrating people. I also object to it but you can only get people to change so much.
