I agree, and for my part, I think it;s equally important that the goal of said act be achievable both with what is written into the act, consistent with the platform advanced by those who proposed that it be written into law, and made with full consideration of any other act or law that it may conflict with (compromises have to be weighed adequately). From this standpoint, in my estimation, US gun law is a mess. We regulate things which we needn't, we ignore or underfund regulation which we should emphasize, it all smacks of politcal career-building to me. Make agreeable promises, propose partisan legislature, let it languish on the floor - but ultimately, whatever you do...-do nothing-. Know what I mean?
