As soon as someone or some group is against something
It emidiatly turns into: WAR on something
WAR on christmans, for example.
Would be very weird if this kind of vocabulary would be used in german media.
Krieg dem was auch immer!!!
It's a sign of a wish thinking people, willing to be led by the nose if the slogan seems right and danger to self seem minimal, and eager to be patted on the back for accomplishment that are neither substantive nor their own, secretly stroking themselves while fantasizing about being great, tough and valiant.
Hence all the eagerness to play warrrr where not a single drop of their own blood is at risk. If one is not brave enough to live an exciting life, at least one could experience excitement vicariously by naming mundane things after warrrrrr....
War on those that offend my inner prude. War on someone to make me feel good. war on smelly arm pits, war on dirty laundry, war on that ant colony under the drive way.
