When you're right, you're right. Of course, the other side doing it in no way justifies one's own side doing it. Tu quoque doesn't refute, it only 'tu quoques'.
Absolutely. Saying, "But your side does it too!" doesn't excuse bad behavior. But the topic at hand in this thread is in particular how the ("hypocrite") left wing argues. And it is hypocritical to argue for tolerance and then act in these kinds of ways.
And if someone made a thread talking about hypocrisy on the Right--which this echo chamber does almost weekly--I'd pop in and mention how some of the same people who argue for "freedom of speech" and "free exercise of religion" also argue for banning flag burning and mandating a pledge of allegiance that includes what is essentially a paean to theism. But this is not that thread.
