Most new cars look awful compared to older ones (and that's coming from an 18 year old.).
I'd rather have a classic mini than one of the new BMW ones for sure. Older cars also have more character; you don't get the mad Citroens and Saabs anymore, or the variety of different errors British Leyland cars could have.
Also, older cars are much more memorable. In recent years, there's been no cars (or not many) made famous by TV shows or films.
