You can spend a fortune on PC hardware too if you want. Mac don't have a monopoly on quality, they just have a monopoly on insisting you use a limited set of hardware some of which is of good quality. This was their downfall: It's easy to make software work on a limited set of hardware.

So the question is usually one of how much you want to pay. With a PC you can choose to up the quality of components that would suit your need/s.
