Checked out the sight, what with caring about gun safety and all.
1 This would be great, private purchase loophole needs to be closed. This is a very easy case to make too btw, since it's a felony to sell a firearm to a felon, or to own a firearm as a felon - and without a background check........how is the seller supposed to ensure they aren't selling to a felon? Simple due diligence.
2 This is a rehash of the AWB, which was notable particularly for it's complete and utter lack of any detectable effect on crime or safety. Seeing as how I'd like the next round of bills in this arena to have some effect, and not be so easy to gout on grounds of partisanship and ineffectiveness...I'm disappointed to see this here.
3 It already is.
I would really love to see the private sale purchase loophole closed, and the thought of a petition like this spawning a bill that would get mauled as an attempt to play partisan politics with ineffective policies(obstructing and delaying any meaningful legislation in the process) is thoroughly disappointing. Imagine a compromise in which legislators were offered either 1 or 2 but not both (and of course the opposition would want some sorts of concessions somewhere, a price to pay). I'd be pissed if we got sold up the river with 2 rather than getting something meaningful with 1.

I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!
