I've never seen an atheist say any of that. In fact, it sounds like you have things exactly backwards. Speaking only for myself, I reject teachings in religious scriptures solely based on the evidence or lack thereof. If it has no external evidence to support the claims, I reject the claims as unsupported. That is the standard I apply to *ALL* claims, not just the religious.
And yes, accepting a statement, any statement as true, just because it claims to be true is logically faulty, it's circular reasoning.
I think you need to stop treating scripture as though it's magical and shouldn't be evaluated by the same rules we use for everything else.

There is nothing demonstrably true that religion can provide mankind that cannot be achieved as well or better through secular means.
