Islamic hell is a literal fire and brimstone kind of place where you physically burn in real fire and your flesh regenerates during the process. Without flesh/nerve endings you wouldn't feel the pain of course. God/Allah sends people there who have displeased him for whatever reason, say they denied his very existence. Christians have developed a more palatable version of hell which is a separation from God and a burning of anguish from the weight of your unforgiven sins and so on. The Muslim hell is described in the Quran in some detail, it also describes what heaven will be like and what you will get while you're there. Jews didn't have much of a concept of hell or an afterlife in general. There is mention of Sheol or the pit but that's the just the ground, you're burried in that and God has finished with you. They developed various beliefs in the afterlife later on but it was never really uniform.
