So I have been playing with the thought to visit Annik, Hovik and Psykhronic in Jacksonville (Florida) and Boston (Massachusetts) this summer or upcoming autumn, so I went to a travel agency and looked up the cheapest ways to get there, turning out that it wasn`t that expensive and that It would cost me an estimated 700 - 900 Euros which is pritty reasonable for a transatlantic flight (weirdly enought flying to Australia, Korea and Japan from Frankfurt or Munich is cheaper).
Now what pisses me really of are the things required by the US embessy to let me travel there.
I need a a 90 days tourist Visa, which is ok, a bit unusual to me since traveling within the EU no longer requires a visa for Eu citizens.
But why does the visa cost 60 Euros? A visa for Russia costs 25. For 60 Euros I could buy the Russian goverment for a day!
I need a passport, which is ok since I am on a flight. Traveling in EU countries without taking a flight is possible without a passport aslong as you are a EU citizen and have a ID with you. But a special passport with an electronic chip in it and a passport pic like some fucking criminal?
And why do you want to know so much about me? Suposedly, If I have ever used drugs, been inbeded with prostetution, member of a socialist group or ingaged in any other "inmoral activities" I cannot enter the US.
Now, if I would answere the provided questionaire honestly, I would not be able to enter the US. Since I was once a member of a marxist student group and have had a bit of a drug history.
And why ask the silly question: "Are you planning to engage in terrorist activities within the US?"
do you seriously believe that a potential terrorist will answere with: "Yes! please fucking arrest me and ship me to Guantanamo where we can engage in waterbording and other activites."
And why must I give up the complete details of my ID again, (Name, Adress, place of birth, citizenship)? Arent these on my fucking passport?
I would understand such precautions when citizens from a country like... Algeria, Egypt or Pakistan want to enter the US.
But Europe?
This is even more stupid as me a UK citizen for a 90 day visa I have to play 117 Euros and were supposed to be best buddies with the USA. Seriously WTF.
