I do not see what John as doing as anything close to what that show does. If he is merely joking he certainly doesn't sound like it. To me he simply sounds like a dick.
I joke myself about stereotypes. "Atheists barbecue kittens, we all love Hitler". I just don't see what Mr V was doing was useful humor and I do think that Mr V does suffer a bit of fear of the "outsider", otherwise he would have given up a long time ago.

Have you considered you're not tapping into his (very basic) humor and instead taking it entirely too seriously? He has let *you* be the stereotypical melodramatic overly-defensive gay man, and he has *loved* it. Why should he not have?
You apparently have a hard time joking about yourself, I think you should get over it. I think I'm among the funniest things upon this planet simply for existing as I do. 'Mr. V' was DEMONSTRATING a stereotype by simply KEEPING YOU ON THE DEFENSIVE. How is that so hard to grasp? 0.o
