The joke might not have existed if you didn't overreact to it so incredibly, I think fucking with strangers just to fuck them is lovely, but a girl's gotta eat and pay the bills.

In that context I most certainly would not like it. Because in the case of a bigot calling me gay, they would use it as a slur. I don't see being gay as a slur so why should I put up with it if I think someone really is using it as a slur?
I can be serious, you know But I certainly wouldn't mean it derogative-like, since there isn't anything wrong with that
I put up with people calling me slurs by firstly not being affected by it, and secondly by responding in a way that amuses me... I don't lose my cool over it, nor do I see why anyone should.

You milk carton!
Any word can be used as a slur, any phrase... it's about intent. Also, if this is about 'how to deal with slurs', I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the method used for some 5 pages of this thread isn't the ideal method.

The joke was obvious, and I even told you as much yesterday. I think this would be a dreadfully boring world if we didn't mess with strangers. Boy but I have a hard time with the new rule in the introduction subforum
Please give me a home where cloud buffalo roam
Where the dear and the strangers can play
Where sometimes is heard a discouraging word
But the skies are not stormy all day
