Look if you were just screwing around teasing me, I think it would have been better to let me in on the joke. I do not however think it is funny to fuck with someone just to fuck with them, especially when they do not know you.

The joke might not have existed if you didn't overreact to it so incredibly, I think fucking with strangers just to fuck them is lovely, but a girl's gotta eat and pay the bills.

I would not care for example if Violet or Tara were to call me gay, because I know that they would just be teasing. I would care if you really were a bigot. In that context I most certainly would not like it. Because in the case of a bigot calling me gay, they would use it as a slur. I don't see being gay as a slur so why should I put up with it if I think someone really is using it as a slur?

I put up with people calling me slurs by firstly not being affected by it, and secondly by responding in a way that amuses me... I don't lose my cool over it, nor do I see why anyone should.

This isn't about being gay. It is about how a word can be used as a slur.

Any word can be used as a slur, any phrase... it's about intent. Also, if this is about 'how to deal with slurs', I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the method used for some 5 pages of this thread isn't the ideal method.

Context matters so if you are going to joke around like that it is better to get to know someone first and if you don't know them, then maybe it is better to let them in on the joke or not joke until you get to know them better.

The joke was obvious, and I even told you as much yesterday. I think this would be a dreadfully boring world if we didn't mess with strangers. Boy but I have a hard time with the new rule in the introduction subforum
