The common classless jester Undecided Well, maybe there's a future for him when he discovers the font of creativity, isn't he from Florida? Sounds advantageous for him.

And ignore that sacrificial shit from the fountain of youth, it's fundamentally different. Albeit, Sheogorath will touch him in the naughty place.

Violet you are talking to a South Park fan, a show that is successful using stereotypes exactly the way you say, to get people talking about them.

I do not see what John as doing as anything close to what that show does. If he is merely joking he certainly doesn't sound like it. To me he simply sounds like a dick.

I joke myself about stereotypes. "Atheists barbecue kittens, we all love Hitler". I just don't see what Mr V was doing was useful humor and I do think that Mr V does suffer a bit of fear of the "outsider", otherwise he would have given up a long time ago.

I didn't bring up south park 0.o I mean, I'm with this guy:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GeixtYS-P3s

Have you considered you're not tapping into his (very basic) humor and instead taking it entirely too seriously? He has let *you* be the stereotypical melodramatic overly-defensive gay man, and he has *loved* it. Why should he not have?

You apparently have a hard time joking about yourself, I think you should get over it. I think I'm among the funniest things upon this planet simply for existing as I do. 'Mr. V' was DEMONSTRATING a stereotype by simply KEEPING YOU ON THE DEFENSIVE. How is that so hard to grasp? 0.o

Violet Lily Blossom = smartest person on this forum (other than myself of course). Well done. Clap

No, you haven't, and you're now applying stereotypes yourself.

Personally I think that a bi continuum model better describes human sexuality than a straight/gay dichotomy.

Abba just happens to be about 98% to the gay side.

I also know that Freddie Mercury was bi, and have a Queen CD in my car. He was in my opinion the best male rock singer of his generation. "Fat Bottomed Girls" is a personal favorite, in more ways than one.

The difference is that I really don't care if you call me gay. So what?

Look if you were just screwing around teasing me, I think it would have been better to let me in on the joke. I do not however think it is funny to fuck with someone just to fuck with them, especially when they do not know you.

I would not care for example if Violet or Tara were to call me gay, because I know that they would just be teasing. I would care if you really were a bigot. In that context I most certainly would not like it. Because in the case of a bigot calling me gay, they would use it as a slur. I don't see being gay as a slur so why should I put up with it if I think someone really is using it as a slur?

This isn't about being gay. It is about how a word can be used as a slur.

Context matters so if you are going to joke around like that it is better to get to know someone first and if you don't know them, then maybe it is better to let them in on the joke or not joke until you get to know them better.

The joke might not have existed if you didn't overreact to it so incredibly, I think fucking with strangers just to fuck them is lovely, but a girl's gotta eat and pay the bills.

I can be serious, you know Undecided But I certainly wouldn't mean it derogative-like, since there isn't anything wrong with that Thinking

I put up with people calling me slurs by firstly not being affected by it, and secondly by responding in a way that amuses me... I don't lose my cool over it, nor do I see why anyone should.

You milk carton! Angry

Any word can be used as a slur, any phrase... it's about intent. Also, if this is about 'how to deal with slurs', I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the method used for some 5 pages of this thread isn't the ideal method.

The joke was obvious, and I even told you as much yesterday. I think this would be a dreadfully boring world if we didn't mess with strangers. Boy but I have a hard time with the new rule in the introduction subforum Wink

I admit, I took him way too seriously, but that was because I don't know him. Atheist websites do often draw real bigots. So I think it is better to clue someone in first and make it obvious, rather than simply go up to someone you don't know and crack jokes.

Seriously, no one goes up to complete strangers and jokes like that. It is a good way to get your ass kicked, over anything, race, religion, nationality and sexuality. Joking is fine. And among friends inside jokes are most certianly fine.

Fuck I don't take myself as seriously as you may think, but if it is an inside joke, then clue the person in, don't fuck with them for amusement.

Now, this gay ABBA fan is going to move on.

I just watched that video, and Morgan is right. But I dont think that is going to happen suddenly and he'd also have a problem with other "dark skined" men since some do want a "history month", so he'd be arguing with other "blacks". But is point is, and I agree, we shouldn't be divided by labels.

I think it doesn't matter if they are serious *or* joking: the response to them should be reasonable, and shouldn't fly off the handle. Or it should be sarcastic and ridiculous... not a giant load of butthurt and accusatory comments (serious... stop using Xenophobe, he's not afraid of aliens XD).

Well, I do. Infact, if I haven't offended you yet, it's only because I haven't gotten to you. Granted, I'm usually a bit classy in doing so... the average person doesn't understand a lick of my running commentary on the world. Which adds to the hilarity of it Tongue

It's not an inside joke... you were making yourself the joke, and your demands are a tad unreasonable.

Well, those people who do want a 'history month' are retarded. I don't divide by labels, I sort by them Smile People can belong to several groups... were my process diversionary, only one group per person.

Bryan, check out this site, apply what you learn, and you won't be such a pansy anymore. You might even become a man someday.

Stimbo, this site will also help you get a woman.

Cheers, much obliged. Something in a blonde, I fancy; a nice runner, low mileage, manual gearbox, eye catching headlamps, plush velvet interior. Hand-cranking optional. What would be the postage to the UK?
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'
