Allah isn't exactly his problem, his family is because if he tells them that he's dating me, being western and an atheist, they'll never accept me and will end up giving him an ultimatum, me or them |:

People like that follow their "religion" and their "religious texts".
Use those to argue for your case and you have a chance of gaining acceptance.
