They cant see what we do outside the net in our daily lives. They think everyone we work with or know or and all our family members are atheists. They also cant grasp that I can like someone without liking everything they claim.

I can't tell you as a kid how many times my mom, or a teacher, or friend said to me "No, knock it off, your wrong". I didn't assume they hated me.

Another example:

Car driver ignoring red light ahead playing with their cell phone.

Passenger "Hey, put that thing down you are coming to a red light, and you shouldn't be talking on that while driving anyway"

Car driver, "Shut up, I can do what I want"

Passenger, "No you are going to run that red light"

Car driver, "BIGOT, WHY DO YOU HATE ME"

That is what Drich and people of all beliefs do. It is protecting one's ego rather than considering that they are wrong. So they call us bigots like you said to attempt to make us look bad and shut the conversation down.

One I was not talking to you. Primarily because you hit the panic stop button everytime a conversation gets beyond your grasp. I don't take you seriously enough to consider you a bigot. Your a mild neussance, who occasionally comes up with some good speaking points, but when ever the conversation gets beyond what you ready to argue, you ask me to "prove God..." So no Brian, your not a bigot, so no need to marytar yourself on that alter.

What Answers? You created a complete Lie then you want me to defend the Lie you created as if it were legit? I think you need to cut your daily intake of hot dogs, if you expect me to defend a straw man of your own creation.

Quote:And there's where we start having problems. I know a number of christians, and a number of fundamentalist denominations who don't dismiss the old testament as not applicable to them. I know a number of these types of christians personally.
..And add me to the list.

Quote:Do you not understand that there are thousands of christian churches, and that some of them don't take your particular stance?
ROFLOL what they do not accept the bible as the word of God? That they do not understand that OT Judism and NT Christianity are two seperate religions? Do they still sacerfice goats?

Quote: Tell us all why they're wrong and you are right. That's the core of my argument: why should we take your- old testament ignoring, for example- stance as the correct, and only correct, one? And how, exactly, does the fact that someone else might follow a different teaching that accepts both the old and new testament make them less of a christian?
This is the core of your problem. you are argueing a principle that absolutly no christian would stand behind no matter what he thought of the Old testament.

Matter of fact their isn't a Jewish sect in practice today that would agree with your assessment. (That it is lawful/a command of god to burn witches)

you have forgone common sense to argue a principle that does not apply to any bible based Judeo-Christian system of belief. your whole arguement is based on the fact that some christians goto Church on saturday rather then sunday. If you are so sure about what you believe then find one of the saturday worshiping Christians and ask him on what day is it ok to burn a suspected witch.

Quote:If you're being genuine about calling us bigots, I think here might be the point of disconnect. I understand that, to you, the new testament disavows the actions of these men as christians, and that you think we're bigots for claiming otherwise. And if your specific christian denomination was the only one we had, you'd probably be right.
again No 'Sect' of Bible based Christianity burns witches. The burden of proof is on you to show one that does. (start in PNG your best bet is to find one there.)

Quote:We're not being bigoted against christianity, we're just acknowledging the fact that there are many different interpretations of this religion. In fact, you're being more bigoted than we are by demanding that yours is the only proper type of christianity.
What makes you a bigot is that no matter what Cermonial version of Christianity you want to side with, all Bible based Christians wholely accept the Moral law of the NT. At least when it comes to burning witches.

Quote:Isn't that literally what you're doing right now by refusing to acknowledge the existence of different types of religious teachings?
You have failed to show me one. you have pointed to cermonial differences but you have not once named a single branch of biblically based Christianity who has adopted a witch burning doctrine. (Even if you had I can point to Acts 8 Mat 5 and 1/2 a dozen other verse that say Murder is wrong and that we are not to burn witches by the example of the apstole Peter.)

To which as many times as I mentioned Peter's interaction with a legit witch you have yet to comment. surly you know This is the final nail in your arguements coffin. We have a conclusive perscribed way outlined by one of the leading apstoles that shows the whole of Christianity how 'we' are to deal with witches. The Arguement is over. Peter did not burn the witch in acts 8, we are not to burn witches in acts 8. You can say nothing else of consenquence. (which make your persute and insistance that the oppsite is true just hatful religious bigotry)

Quote:Well, that's certainly the level of discourse I've come to expect from you, Drich. Congrats, you now look like more of a child than ever before.

boo-ya

Quote:One I was not talking to you. Primarily because you hit the panic stop button everytime a conversation gets beyond your grasp

You didn't Boo-ya anyone jackass. And I am talking to you.

What is not to understand? You have a pet invisible fictional friend you falsely believe is real. You hit the panic button when I simply say "so what" other people have other pet fictional super heros too. YOU hit the panic button when I say "take a number".

Your problem with me is I don't get distracted by your Yellow Brick road convoluted tactics. I wouldn't give one rats ass if you claimed your god's name was Frank and there was a 100,000 year old book that claimed your god Frank was real. I don't buy it when Muslims or Jews or Hindus do it either. And please remember I once believed myself so don't fucking pull that bigot shit.

The only person here not grasping reality is you. You don't understand there is a gigantic difference between what you want to be real, and what you can prove is real. You think you are special and get pissed when I tell you that other people with other beliefs truly believe as fervently as you do, that they are right. And again, I say SO WHAT.

It never occurs to you that YOU could be wrong. It never occurs to you that you are merely protecting your own ego because you don't want to feel you wasted all this time on a fantasy. It would be too embarrassing for you so rather than face that embarrassment, like many of us here did, and accepted, because unlike you the truth was too important to us to falsely cling to something we couldn't defend, instead of considering you got it wrong, you resist because your feelings of what you want are more important to you than facts.

Now the FACTS are that the only place we find any type of thinking process is within biological evolution. There is absolutely NO evidence of thoughts existing outside a biological process in life. On top of that we have MOUNDS of evidence that humans can and do make up gods and all sorts of stupid superstitions, not just what you have swallowed. MANY of us here used have all sorts of woo we fell for and grew out of.

The truth you don't want to face, the truth many of us her finally faced, is that we, meaning the ones here who once believed, is that it was nothing but our own selfish desires and wishful thinking. That is how ALL religions start and ALL superstitions start. Someone gets a thought in their head, they don't care to question it, they simply go with it because it "feels right" and "sounds good". That is what I was doing when I believed, and that is all you are doing now. And that is what Jews and Hindus and Shintoists and Scientologists do too. You are not special and ARE making the same mistake I made and Jews and Muslims and all religious people make.
