Well, first of all, since God cannot have emotions, otherwise there are external forces friving Him/Her, and since God cannot have an ego, otherwise external forces are driving Him/Her, He/Hse cannot take offence.
But then, the God defined in man's image is fairly irrational and fickled, and so no matter what you do, you're screwed!
Now, if all religions are true, then no matter what you do, you are doing the right thing and the wrong thing. And if you join the wrong religion, you are doing the wrong thing. And if you are a sinless baby, but unbaptised you go to hell (until that changed the rules a bit later and put the baby at the edge of hell: limbo). And if you divorce and you are Catholic, you have sinned, but if you are Jewish you preformed a mitzvah (a positive thing)! If you eat meat on friday, you have sinned (or not, depending which year you did it), and if you work on Sunday as a Christian you sinned (if it was before the 19th century, otherwise it's cool), or not if you are a Jew.
So many sins, and each of them depend on your religion, and according to most of them, if you are not part of them you are going to hell anyhow, or at the very least, not to heaven.
I prefer a simpler life, which is why I live in the suburbs.
