I don't think hatred is ever beneficial, in any circumstances. Someone mentioned that hatred might drive a person to be more productive in order to overcome obstacles, but I beg to differ. I don't think people realize how strong of a word "hate" is. These days, the word is tossed around and used casually all the time, but it really is a powerful word. Saying you hate someone in my opinion is like saying you would be perfectly happy if that person were to die. Not a great example, but my point is that it's a strong word used loosely too often.
Hatred just leads people to bottle up anger inside, and that's never a good thing. It's better to release things and forgive instead of keeping it all in and going on hating someone (or something for that matter).
