No, I did not steal this from Edgar Allen Poe!! D:<
I'm not that low. =3=
But I did type this up; I found out "nevermore" means to be quiet, hush, etc., so I used it here. Also... The parrot. It wouldn't be the same if I used a cat or a dog; I felt like a parrot was more fitting (since they can speak).
This is one of those ugh-I-have-a-headache-trying-to-find-out-the-deep-meaning-of-this-poem kinda poems, sooo... Yeah. :S

A parrot perches nicely in the golden rimmed cage.
It's about to go to its coming of age.
"Oh, parrot," you begin. "Why are you so silent?"
It sways gently, not a squawk, like a hollow tent.
"Oh, parrot," you begin. "Why are you so still?"
It stands firmly, not a squawk, like an unmovable hill.
"Oh, parrot," you begin. "Why are you so uncaring?"
It twists its head, not a squawk, though it's not so daring.
"Oh, parrot," you begin. "Why are you not eating?"
It blinks a few times, not a squawk, the teapot in the other room heating.
"Oh, parrot," you begin. "Why are you not ever sore?"
It falls to the bottom of the cage, not a squawk, as it slowly mutters, "Nevermore."
You watch it stay there, lifeless and unmoving, as you pick up the ruffled body.
You bury it outside, not a feeling nor a praise, as you simply walk away.
"That bird," you begin. "It was so silent."
Another bird appears in the cage that day, yet the only thing it says to you is, "Nevermore."
