I honestly don't know, and Google brings up disturbing sites for me
But contrary to a popularly held belief, the placenta doesn't block drugs from the fetus, it functions more like a sieve. The drugs reach the fetus, it just takes longer.. If the woman is sedated for the procedure, the fetus will be under the effects of those drugs as well.
To be honest, a lot of the anti abortion side even here seems to be under the impression women have abortions like eating ice cream.
Not that the majority of the time they're emotionally devastated by letting a potential child get so far in development.
Anti-abortion twats need to realize that pretty much everyone is in some form "against abortion".
The only difference is that the pro-choice side realizes that, sometimes just sometimes, bringing a child into the world is not financially viable, lacks quality of life, etc.
It is a mark of evil to insist that most cases of pregnancy should be brought to term, as it creates the implicit assumption that most people are at their best supporting network for having children.
A child should not be brought into a world where he/she is unloved or must live a much reduced to unfulfilling life due to health, finances, etc.
Life is a gift, not a burden.
Contraception and abortion grant the ability to sidestep that dilemma
