RE: what do christians (and people in general) mean by "feeling empty inside"?

I found that my current life had much more meaning when I realized that there was nothing beyond it. That, and the realization that my life was my own to manage, gives me a feeling of freedom and power and the motivation to enjoy the life I have even more than I did before. I have always loved life and enjoyed it; a change in perspective did not diminish that. Who are these people who are so easily overcome by the realization that they must rely on themselves instead of some invisible hand?
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."
