The only reason Christians seem to cling to this idea (in my opinion) is that they're butthurt that they won't be alive to see some of those gaps get filled.

-Round these parts most christians actually do believe that everything awesome will happen and all gaps will be filled (that will ever be filled) in their lifetimes - being that their lifetime is the end of times. They've been thinking that for centuries, so meh.
