Totally, actually if I would recommend one place to go for someone visiting the state it would be Utah. Moab, Arches national park, Canyonlands, Bryces Canyon. You would have a lifetime of stuff to do just in those places. There is really no need to interact with the Mormons while you are there and even if you do just consider it a little bit of modern cultural anthropology.
