You don't have to believe in evolution to be an atheist. Lot's of atheists who are also rationalists will give such an atheist grief if they don't accept evolution as the most likely explanation for speciation, but it doesn't make them not an atheist. Usually in 'atheist discussions' we're actually discussing something else: science, logic, aplogetics, and the like.
What makes someone an atheist is not believing in God. It's not that complicated. It's not a system of beliefs. It's one belief that atheists don't have.
The Dawkin's scale is a handy but pretty arbitrary scale lots of people have heard of. We're not paying homage to Dawkins by using it any more than one pays homage to Stanley Stevens whenever using a scale of measurement even though he defined all the major types of measurement.
I realized I was an atheist at least eight or nine years before that book Dawkins wrote that still has some of you guys spinning.
