The child died and a national debate sprung up.
Parlament enacted new laws and today it is illegal for parents to deny their children medical treatment which could save their lives as long as they are under 18. If the parents do it anyway, the charges against the parents are eighter "grevious bodily harm", "neglegence toward children", "abuse of parental power", "manslaughter" or a combination of various of these charges.
