It's funny, isn't it, how God's language (or, rather, the language of his chosen people) is so easily misconstrued and primitive. You'd think the language of the race of people the omnipotent sky-daddy would be more versatile and difficult to fuck up, but man, it was extremely primitive! Must be a pain in the ass trying to square the circle when your god isn't even decent enough to clue you in that your language might change and be misconstrued over the next few millenia...which you think he would've done, given that he created the human race and knows everything...
