Why god cannot heal amputees ?

I had a manager at work once tell me he saw a man's leg grow back. He had me in a corner after I told him I don't go to Church (This is Britain in 2013, not even the Christians go to Church unless they're really old or from the Philippines) and tried to tell me that he knew a man in a wheelchair who regained the use of his legs. As I pointed out that Science can explain how these things happen naturally he started adding details that made it sound more magical before saying "He had a missing leg! I literally prayed and watched his leg grow back!" I burst out laughing at him at that point. I mean, did he expect me to think he'd forgotten that minor detail for the first 10 minutes of this story? Lol
